A migration done properly, and a site 50% faster
The challenge
Replicant was moving to a new website, with a development agency handling the build. On top of the usual migration risk, where search visibility quietly disappears if the technical detail is wrong, there was a deeper problem underneath: a lot of their pages had fallen out of Google’s index, so historic visibility was already slipping before the move.
The migration needed careful technical SEO oversight alongside the dev team, both to protect what was working and to put right what wasn’t.
The work
We ran the technical SEO across the whole migration and treated it as a comprehensive programme rather than a checklist. Before the move we benchmarked the old site’s performance, mapped every page and URL, and pulled the backlink data so pages with inbound links were protected in the switch.
We planned and built the full redirect strategy, standardised the URL structure, and QA’d the technical detail through to launch. Working alongside the site’s development agency, we caught issues that would otherwise have slipped through, including pages that still needed migrating or redirecting and the trailing slashes in the link structure. The launch schedule slipped, as migrations often do, and we kept it steady and low-risk through the delay.
The results
The site relaunched cleanly. It came out 50% faster, the technical issues that would have caused trouble after go-live were caught and fixed before launch, and the whole migration was delivered smoothly despite the launch date slipping. The client’s team could trust that every technical detail had been handled.

In their own words
Matt and Seb were great to work with on technical SEO throughout our website migration. They caught things that our development agency did not, such as extra pages to migrate or redirect, link structure with trailing slashes, and more, and we improved site speed by 50%! They were highly organized, communicative, and responsive, despite the launch schedule getting delayed.”
